I have followed Amy Grant career and life since her 1991 crossover hit Baby Baby. Her exhilarating and captivating new book Mosaic is an inspirational read that vividly celebrates life, faith and precious memories. She reflects upon the events, relatives, friends and conversations that rocked and moved her patchwork of life so far. We can all take different insights away from the legacy of this book like giving ‘gifts’ to make each day purposeful and knowing that we need not be troubled or be afraid. Here are my favourites...This, too, shall pass:
Nothing is wasted in life. Grief and pain enlarge our capacity for compassion and perseverance.
True Love:
I studied his profile…I tried to find the words to communicate my wonder in being fully understood by a man.
Finally he said with a smile, "Amy, I love you but I can’t say I always a understand you. What I can say is that I welcome you. I welcome you, and whatever you bring to the table is enough."
I thought, better still.
I will remember you:
Frederick Buechner’s words on remembering
"For as long as you remember me, I am never entirely lost."
Just because a life is cut short doesn’t mean it can’t provide a lifetime of impact for those still living.
